Residence is the authorization granted by the National Migration Directorate to a foreigner to settle in Paraguay and carry out activities. There are 3 (three) categories of residences.

Temporary residence is a requirement to later apply for permanent residence and allows foreigners to join the administrative body of public limited companies. Temporary residence gives the right to have a Paraguayan ID and allows the registration of the foreigner in the tax registry. The application for temporary residence gives precarious resident status for the duration of the temporary residence process.

Permanent residence is the authorization granted by the National Migration Directorate to reside indefinitely in Paraguay. This residence gives the right to have a Paraguayan ID and also allows foreigners to enter the administrative body of public limited companies. To apply for this residency, it is necessary to have prior temporary residence, except in cases of investors.

People who invest at least USD 70,000.00, generating a source of work in Paraguay through an investment vehicle (public limited company) and based on a project, can directly apply for permanent residence as an investor without applying in prior to temporary residence.

Once you have obtained temporary, permanent or investor residency, you will be able to access the Paraguayan identity card.

Once the Paraguayan ID has been obtained, the foreigner may request to open a bank account. We are in charge of assisting you throughout this process.

Registration in the Single Taxpayer Registry (RUC).

Foreigners who obtain temporary, permanent or investor residency will be able to access the RUC, which will allow them to join the national tax system.

We make applications for naturalization and nationality option for foreigners. These presentations are made before the Judiciary and allow foreigners to be considered citizens according to national laws. Naturalization is a valid option to build greater roots in the country once permanent residence is obtained.
